Coastal and Marine Spatial Planning (CMSP) focuses on coordinating the use and management of ocean and coastal areas to balance economic, environmental, and community objectives while minimizing conflicts and environmental impacts. The Gulf of Maine Council’s CMSP Committee supports cross-border collaboration between Canada and the United States by sharing data, scientific knowledge, best practices, and policy information to advance coordinated, ecosystem-based marine planning and address shared ecological and human use challenges across the Gulf of Maine.
