Marine tourism

Tourism in Marine Environments is an interdisciplinary journal dealing with management issues in marine settings. It draws upon the expertise of academics and practitioners from various disciplines related to the marine environment, including tourism, marine science, geography, social sciences, psychology, environmental studies, economics and marketing. Topics include scuba diving and snorkeling, fishing, observing marine mammals and birds, the cruise ship and ferry industry, beach activities, sea kayaking, visits to fishing villages and lighthouses, maritime museums and maritime events. Gulf of Maine mapping

The Gulf of Maine Mapping Portal (GoMMaP) is designed as a single point of access to Gulf of Maine maps available from organizations that use web-mapping services. GoMMaP serves as a resource for organizations that would like to contribute geographic data through Web mapping services or add mapping content to a Web site. It provides users with easy access to maps that are created by integrating maps made available over the Web. Access: http://dev1.dmsolutions.ca/gommap/.

Health of Fundy report

Health of the Bay of Fundy: Assessing Key Issues is a report on the proceedings of the 5th Bay of Fundy Science Workshop and Coastal Forum, held May 13 to 16 2002 in Wolfville Nova Scotia. Through six concurrent presentation sessions the workshop reflected “a desire to continue examining issues in an integrated and ecosystem-based manner as they may affect the structure and function of the whole bay, its watersheds and adjacent waters.” Presenters highlighted coastal zone and information management, climate and sea level change, fish and fisheries, wildlife and habitat conservation, contaminants and ecosystem health and ecotourism opportunities and impacts. Tools for marine educators

Current: The Journal of Marine Education is a publication of the Nation Marine Educators Association and is published four times a year for members of the National Marine Educators Association. The fall issue is dedicated to Marine Protected Areas. Other articles include Seabirds: A teaching tool for marine conservation; Designing the Channel Islands Marine Reserves: A Case Study of Science-Based Reserve Design; and Lessons beneath the Waves: Maritime Heritage Revealed through Shipwrecks.
