Canadian Conference on Marine Environmental Quality: Proceedings. February

This report documents the proccedings of a conference in Halifax, Nova
Scotia on marine environmental quality in Canada. At the conference, the
two main session focus areas were on control strategies and the status of
and issues with marine environmental quality in Canada. The report
contains abstracts from all of the presentations that took place during
the sessions, as well as more indepth summaries. Also at the conference
were three workshop sessions on implementing the Montreal guidelines in
the context of a Candian marine environmental quality framework,
opportunities and constraints for implementation of a Canadian marine
environmental quality framework, and approaches and actions for successful
development and implementation of a Canadian marine environmental quality
framework. These workshops allowed the participants to discuss the issues
and identify desired elements for a marine environmental quality
framework. This report contains summaries of these discussions, as well as
contains the final conclusions and recommendations from the workshop
participants.
