St. Croix International Waterway Commission. St. Croix International
Waterway: A Heritage - A Future. June 1990. 142 pp.
This is a preliminary plan for the management of the St. Croix
International Waterway. It begins by describing the St. Croix Region, its
location, geography and use, its population, and its history, economy and
culture. The plan examines six areas: environmental setting, human
heritage, natural heritage, recreational heritage, economic development,
and waterway management. For each area, the report contains an overview of
the topic and the findings and recommendations of the St. Croix
International Waterway Commission. Also included in the report are
strategies to implement the recommendations. This resource also contains a
large number of appendices which describe the St. Croix International
Waterway Commission, the role of the St. Croix in the Maine Rivers Program
and New Brunswick River Management and Heritage River System, a proposal
for a waterway conservation area and information on water quality
regulation in Maine and New Brunswick.
