Nova Scotia Fisheries Atlas. May 1982. 44 pp.
The Nova Scotia Fisheries Atlas was prepared in May 1982 for the Nova
Scotia Department of Fisheries. The atlas is divided into five sections:
landings and major species, fishing fleet, employment, onshore facilities
and infrastructure and fish product exports. In the first section there is
information on the total value of the landings in the forty-four fisheries
districts for both onshore and offshore areas. This section also contains
a map of significant species, which are species with greater or equal than
15% of the total landed value and tonnage in the districts. Also included
are maps for groundfish and pelagic, and lobster and scallop landed
values. The second section contains nearshore and offshore vessel data,
reported by gross tonnage, and information on harbors. The employment
section contains data on the percent of income derived from fishing by
registered fishermen and information on the annual operation of plants.
The fourth section focuses on associated industries and infrastructure, as
well as processing plant facilities. The last section contains a map
depicting Nova Scotia's international exports of fish products.
