Government of Canada. Canada's Green
Plan. 1990. 174 pp.
Canada's Green Plan to promote a healthy environment was created in
1990 as the result of collaboration from a diverse group of Canadians. The
Green Plan is composed of two sections, an overview and the Green Plan.
The overview section contains information on a partnership for change
between the Canadians and their government, on principles for
environmental action, the government-wide commitment and financing the
plan. Section two on the Green Plan begins by stating the relationship
between human health and the environment, focusing on drinking water and
water pollution. The Green Plan also focuses on sustainable forest
development, environmental sustainability in agriculture, and sustainable
fisheries. Also receiving attention are global warming, ozone depletion,
and acid rain. The final part of section two concentrates on
environmentally responsible decision making, stressing the need for
environmental information to make sound decisions, supporting new science
and the use of legislative, regulatory and market tools to bring about
change.
