In this edition of the Gulf of Maine Times, we’ll introduce the deserving winners of this year’s Gulf of Maine Council awards and shine the spotlight on the Corporate Wetlands Restoration Partnership.

Whether it’s caused by normal deterioration of structures, historic changes in energy production, or extreme weather events due to the effects of climate change, damage to habitat must be corrected to prevent further damage, including loss of species. The Gulf of Maine Council on the Marine Environment is involved in many habitat restoration projects throughout the Gulf region, and many of those projects are funded in part by the Corporate Wetlands Restoration Partnership (CWRP) which provides corporate funding to fill in gaps or leverage federal grants through matching funds.
