Changes: for the climate and the Times

The Gulf of Maine Times is trying a new format for a while and this is the first of several, shorter monthly e-editions. For the next few months, we will be looking at climate change around the Gulf, and what’s being done in the United States and Canada to mitigate its effects.

This edition primarily focuses on two grant programs — one U.S. and one Canadian — and how they are supporting municipalities trying to stave off or adapt to the effects of sea level rise and storm surges in both countries.

Also in this issue, we say good-bye to a Nova Scotia activist who accomplished a lot for the environment. Anita Hamilton has written a touching farewell to her colleague, Shayne McQuaid.
