Joan LeBlanc Named GOMC Coordinator

Joan LeBlanc, an experienced environmental leader, has taken on the role of council coordinator for the Gulf of Maine Council on the Marine Environment (GOMC).

LeBlanc previously served as deputy director for The Boston Harbor Association, where she worked to promote the historic cleanup of Boston Harbor and to implement a $30 million restoration of its urban beaches.

A member of the advisory committee to the Massachusetts Environmental Trust, LeBlanc has a B.A. in political science with a minor in journalism from the University of Massachusetts, a certificate from the Environmental Leadership and Management Institute at Tufts University, and a certificate in sustainable business from the University of Southern Maine Business School.

Prior to her career in the environmental field, LeBlanc worked in public finance developing the Massachusetts Governor’s budget recommendations.

She will continue as part-time executive director of the Saugus River Watershed Council, a nonprofit environmental organization dedicated to protecting and restoring the natural resources of the Saugus River watershed.
